After WWII, it was decreed that all Infantry Regiments would be reduced to 1 Battalion each.
In April 1948, 1st KOYLI (51st) left Minden and returned to England, where they were disbanded.
2nd KOYLI (105th) were in Malaya, and on 18 November 1948 they were officially renamed 1st KOYLI (51st-105th).
